Vuosikokouksen jälkeen kouluttaja Kirsi Tanner alustaa ulkomaille muuttamisesta puolison ja perheen näkökulmasta: puolison rooli, odotukset ja pettymykset; lasten
valmentaminen ulkomaille muuttoon ja kulttuurishokin päihittäminen.
Kirsi on asunut perheensä kanssa Soulissa, Pariisissa, Washington DC:ssä ja Brysselissä
ja julkaissut kirjan Ulkomaille muuttajan opas (Ajatus kirjat 2002).

The Finnish Foreign Services Spouses Association – ULPU r.y.

The Finnish Foreign Services Spouses Association ULPU r.y. is a special-interest group for the spouses of the civil servants of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The association is a link between the spouses and the Ministry. Its aim is to promote the unemployment and social security issues of its members, to inform about any matters of current interest and to assist the members in problematic situations.

ULPU organises seminars and other events and works as a support group for all the spouses. There is a password protected discussion forum under the header "Keskustelut" where Foreign Born Spouses can discuss on any topic in English. The password will be provided by the ULPU office upon request.

The ULPU Association organises also some events for foreign diplomat spouses living in Helsinki. The most traditional of these is the Smolna Tea Party just before the Independence Day in December.

The ULPU Association is a member of EUFASA (European Union Foreign Affairs Spouses Associations).
