Advocacy

The mission of the Spouse Association of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs (ULPU ry) is to advocate for the interests of its members, address common concerns, and organize programs that provide both benefit and enjoyment to the membership. The association monitors the development of labor and pension legislation as well as matters being prepared within the ministry that affect the status of spouses and families.

As a result of ULPU ry’s longstanding efforts, the law concerning the special allowance paid to spouses of diplomatic mission officials was amended as of the beginning of 2011. The amendment resulted in an approximately 10 percent increase in the special allowance.
